We Are the Music-Makers by Arthur William Edgar O'Shaughnessy

We Are the Music-Makers by Arthur William Edgar O'Shaughnessy

We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams.
World-losers and world-forsakers,
Upon whom the pale moon gleams;
Yet we are the movers and shakers,
Of the world forever, it seems.

With wonderful deathless ditties
We build up the world's great cities,
And out of a fabulous story
We fashion an empire's glory:
One man with a dream, at pleasure,
Shall go forth and conquer a crown;
And three with a new song's measure
Can trample an empire down.

We, in the ages lying
In the buried past of the earth,
Built Nineveh with our sighing,
And Babel itself with our mirth;
And o'erthrew them with prophesying
To the old of the new world's worth;
For each age is a dream that is dying,
Or one that is coming to birth.

Strenght without Feeling Strong

Sometimes its hard to understand others train of thought. I don't get how a person thinks its amazing that an alcoholic would have the desire to drink when the routine of their life has some sort of disruption. I don't get why people think being righteous is better than simply being there in the present with a mind opened to the infinite angles of life. I guess sometimes we just have to be as strong as people believe us too be. Even if we don't feel that way internally. The ability to show strenght without feeling strong is a blessing and a curse. I guess that is what life is, one or the other.

crippling effects

In America depression seems to be setting in on more people as the world grows. Why? The suffering that comes from such a painful mental state can consume the individual, especially if they don't have the right support from family, friends, professionals, and even random strangers. We are social creatures. It is in our blood to seek out others like us, and surround ourselves with the people we love. But so many times it seems that we surround ourselves with people that are poisonous to our well-being. Perhaps we are blinded by instant gratification. And those poisonous are full of it. They reel you in by making life fun at that moment; drugs, drinks, sex, parties, these are all those instant gratifications that people in such a weak state need to avoid.

The darkness creeps over us slowly but we don't feel it, or we don't acknowledge it, and then one day boom you snap! The darkness is upon you and you are stuck there without a flashlight, or a torch, or even a match to help comfort you.

We must seek "light" constantly, to insure that the darkness won't take over in such profound ways.

The Power of 140 Characters

Just opened a Twitter account. I decided too after my long battle with not joining this seemingly ridiculous online all about me site. But after a good 5 minutes of contemplating the pros and cons of twitter, I decided what's the difference from me blogging about my life, updating my facebook profile, and tagging my face in pictures that I don't even know who took them?

We are in the presence of the MY-generation. And I must say I am on the starting end of this selfish and in other ways selfless era. I find that more gets said out of less words. Silence is powerful, but it is our duty as humans, or more like we have taken it upon ourselves as humans, to speak up when the feeling comes over us.

Twitter leaves 140 characters for anyone to spread knowledge as well as destruction. The tweets of others help to inspire our own tweets.

Cheers!

The Beginning

Starting such adventures as blogs are always fun but the first one is always a bit awkward. where do we begin? how do we begin? who do we share with, and what do we want to share with them? All i can do, i guess, is to simply begin, as i have done.

Beginnings are ends, it is simply the next step forward in life. We can never truly go backwards even if we wish for it. The past is the past but without it we would not have the future nor would we have the present. I am a recent English Graduate and have found comfort in the unknown. The unknown: past, present, and future. The mysteries of life that span from one corner to the other of this world and even beyond to the corners (if that is even correct) of the universe. The process of growing up, evolving, maturing, and simply growing in mind, body and soul are my interest. Spirituality is never a dull subject, but i am not here to push it on anyone. In fact I don't even know the whole meaning of spirituality and am on my quest to discover more about it, not only for me but for all those seeking the same. Finding it within as well as outside ourselves consumes many peoples thoughts. I simply am trying to put my journey through life into the written word. That is what this blog, I'm presuming, will be about. A journey of life. Hope it turns out more interesting than this first post.
