crippling effects

In America depression seems to be setting in on more people as the world grows. Why? The suffering that comes from such a painful mental state can consume the individual, especially if they don't have the right support from family, friends, professionals, and even random strangers. We are social creatures. It is in our blood to seek out others like us, and surround ourselves with the people we love. But so many times it seems that we surround ourselves with people that are poisonous to our well-being. Perhaps we are blinded by instant gratification. And those poisonous are full of it. They reel you in by making life fun at that moment; drugs, drinks, sex, parties, these are all those instant gratifications that people in such a weak state need to avoid.

The darkness creeps over us slowly but we don't feel it, or we don't acknowledge it, and then one day boom you snap! The darkness is upon you and you are stuck there without a flashlight, or a torch, or even a match to help comfort you.

We must seek "light" constantly, to insure that the darkness won't take over in such profound ways.
